Jake Stearns pitched an outstanding game to secure the victory in game #1against Quinsigamond CC, as the Warriors ended up with a 6-2 victory. Jake cruised through the first six innings, allowing only four hits. The Wyverns roughed him up for two runs in the top of the seventh, but Stearns bore down and struck out the final two hitters leaving runners stranded on first and third base. Evan McSherry led off the game with a walk was moved to second on a ground ball and scored on a Alex Carey double. Carey had a pair of doubles and two runs batted in. Tyler Morini plated a pair of runs on two hard hit outs. The Warriors plated two runs in the fifth to give Jake some breathing room and three more in the sixth to put the game away.

The second game was an eight inning 4-3 nail biter. Jimmy Bussiere came on the fifth for Zack Reid and slammed the door to pick up his first win of the season. The Warriors plated three in the bottom of the third inning courtesy of several passed balls/wild pitches. The only Warrior rbi was once again driven in by Tyler Morini double in the gap. As the scoreless innings passed by, the Warriors had multiple chances to win the game, but each time they failed to plate the game winner. With two out in the bottom of the eighth inning Bryan Dwyer reached with his second hit of the game. He went to second on a balk. With two outs, Jimmy Lawless came to the plate. Jimmy hit a top spin ground ball and alertly slid into first, beating the tag. As the first baseman attempted to make the play, Dwyer scored the game winner.

The Warriors are now 12-12 and have positioned themselves for a run for a Region XXI Tournament spot. They play at home on Tuesday, April 26th, at 3:30 pm against Dean College.

The Warriors scored a run in the first inning and never looked back in a 17-0 win over Mass Bay CC. The upside was every player except one played (you have to keep one player available in case of an injury or an ejection). We hit the ball well and Scott Anderson pitched a two hit, nine strikeout gem, to pick up the win.

Jake Stearns and Mike Nader led the offense and are making a strong bid to crack the starting lineup. (Only kidding!) But they both hit the ball hard in their at bats. as they  backed up the bragging that pitchers often do regarding the offensive prowess!

Two big games on Saturday at home against Quinsigamond CC that will go along way toward determining who the two teams are that will face off in the Region XXI Division III Tournament.

The Warriors bounced back from two disappointing losses on Saturday to take a pair of games from Bridgton Academy. The first tilt was a nail biter with the Warriors walking off with the win in the bottom of the seventh inning. The home team took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the sixth inning as Tyler Morini and Justin Martinho each drove in a run. In the top of the seventh our pitching fell apart as four walks and a hit batter resulted in a 3-2 Bridgeton lead.

In the bottom of the seventh, Evan McSherry led off with a line drive single , then Kevin Huscher hit a one out double to put runners on second and third. Tyler Morini came to the plate and once again came up big with a sharp single into the gap to plate both runs and secure the victory. Liam Richmond picked up the win in relief.

Bryan Dwyer took the ball in game two and in his first outing of the season. He produced a solid effort and gave way to Zack Reid in the fifth inning. Bridgton took a 4-3 lead in the top of the fourth inning, but the Warrior bats exploded as they plated 11 unanswered runs in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings. Alex Carey blasted his second home run of the season and drove in four runs as he was a triple shy of the hitting for the cycle. Dylan Ashburn drove in three runs in a 4-5 effort at the plate.Evan McSherry topped off a solid day with three hits and a pair of runs batted in. When the dust cleared, the Warriors had a 14-4 victory.

The Warriors travel to Bowditch Field in Framingham for a 3:00 pm tilt against the Mass Bay CC Buccaneers for a Divisional game on Thursday.

Jake Stearns turned in another solid outing as he scattered three hits and struck out ten Cougar hitters to pick up a key Divisional victory for the Warriors. Tyler Morini continued his torrid hitting as he went four for four and drove in a pair of runs.

The Warriors staked Jake to a 3-0 lead in the top of the second inning. Morini and Dylan Ashburn led off with singles and were plated on a booming double to left field by Alex Carey. Justin Martinho followed with another single to score Alex. Jake gave up a run in the bottom of the fourth, but Massasoit came right back and scored three in the top of the fifth inning. Kevin Huscher reached on a single and Bryan Dwyer’s ground ball was misplayed to put runners on first and second. Tyler Morini blasted and opposite field double to score both runners and effectively put the game out of reach.

Jake was never really in trouble and his 101 pitch complete game effort, improved the Warriors to 3-0 in Divisional play. Saturday brings in the Northern Essex CC Knights for a key double header, starting at 12:00 pm at Colombo Field.

The Warriors swept a pair of games from the NHTI Lynx at Colombo Field by scores of 3-0 and 13-2. In the first game Zack Reid went 6 1/3 innings striking out 9 and surrendering only three hits. Scott Anderson notched the save by recording the final two outs to secure the victory. Alex Carey led off the third inning with a double and came around to score on a Bryan Dwyer single. Justin Martinho led off the fourth with a double and Pat Matthews doubled to drive in the second run off the game. The final run scored on a Jim Lawless single as he plated Dylan Ashburn who led off the inning with a two base hit. 

In game two the Warriors plated 10 first inning runs and never looked back as Jim Bussiere picked up his first win with a two hit, nine strikeout effort. The game only went five innings due to the ten run rule. Alex Carey had a bases loaded triple to plate three runs. Kevin Huscher, Dylan Ashburn and Tyler Morini all drove in two runs as the Warriors improved to 6-10 on the season.

The Warriors travel to Holyoke CC on Thursday for a Divisional game. Jake Stearns will take the mound for the Warriors in this key matchup.

Jake Stearns was in total control as he pitched a perfect seven inning game against the Mass Bay CC Buccaneers. Stearns struck out 13 hitters and didn’t allow a ball hit to the outfield in this dominant outing. Tyler Morini gave Jake all the cushion that he needed, with a two run double in the first inning. His blast to right center field plated Kevin Huscher and Bryan Dwyer, who both reached base by walking. Dylan Ashburn also had two runs batted in with a base hit and a sacrifice fly. With 12 hits in the game with every Warrior starter reached base at least once with a hit.

Mike Nader picked up the win in the second game, hurling a four hitter and picking up six assists including picking off three runners at second base. Kevin Huscher had a solid offensive game with two doubles and a single, scoring all four times he came to the plate. Tyler Morini had another strong game, with three more hits. His only out in game two, was a scorcher right back at the Mass Bay pitcher.

The offensive highlight in this game was a monster home run by freshman, Jonathan Hurley. Hurley easily cleared the left center field fence in the fifth inning with a laser shot.

The Warriors take on the New Hampshire Tech tomorrow at Colombo Field in a 12:00 pm double header.

The most important rule in baseball says you have to score one more run than the opposition in order to win a game. The Warriors are experiencing a real shortage of runs,as they were only able to plate  3 over a 14 inning span on Saturday at Dean College. To say no one is hitting is an understatement.

Jake Stearns turned in another stellar performance, as he allowed two earned runs and struck out four, while scattering five hits. The Warriors were chasing a run and in the top of the seventh inning, when Justin Martinho ripped a double to right center. Dylan Ashburn singled him in and the score was 1-1. We had two shots to drive in a second run, but a pair of fly ball outs ended the inning.The leadoff hitters for Dean poked a single, promptly stole second and two outs later scored on a single  up the middle for another frustrating loss.

Zack Reid pitched well into the fifth inning keeping us in a 1-1 game. Two walks and a couple of well hit balls by the Bulldogs turned the game around an put us on the wrong end of a 7-2 score. The Warriors were held to four hits in this game. In a nutshell our pitching and defense has been solid, but offensively it almost as if were are going to the plate and forgetting to bring a bat.

The Warriors have a week off to figure things out, as a critical league double header against Holyoke CC takes place at Louis R. Colombo Field next Saturday at 12:00 pm.

The Warriors took a two run lead in the top of the first on an rbi triple by Bryan Dwyer, against the UCAP Pointers. We then turned around and gave up three runs in the bottom of the inning. Trailing 5-3 in the top of the fourth, Alex Carey launched a grand slam homer to left center field and Dylan Ashburn plated two more runners with a single. With a solid 8-5 lead, once again we gave back three runs and it was a tie game at the end of four innings. UCAP scored a run on the bottom of the sixth to take a 9-8 lead. The Warriors stranded 7 runners over the last five innings. The lone bright spot on the mound was another impressive pitching performance by Liam Richmond, who breezed through his two inning stint in innings 7 & 8.

The Warriors travel to Franklin, MA on Saturday for a 12:00 pm twin bill against the Dean Bulldogs. Jake Stearns and Zack Reid will take the mound and attempt to put a pair of wins on the board for the Warriors.

The Warriors concluded their spring trip with a loss to Kirkwood CC 12-3. Once again the Warrior bats were ice cold in the hot Florida sunshine. In order to win, the offense will need to experience some global warming after we return home to Massachusetts.

The only bright spot in the game was a two rbi double by freshman, Dylan Ashburn. Dylan also threw out a runner at second base, as he handled the play calling for the Warriors.

The team returns to the Campus tomorrow after leaving Vero Beach with a 4:00 am wake up call. They return to action Thursday in a game in Groton, CT against UCAP. (Assuming we don’t get the predicted snow at home!) Check this site for updates on team activities and game summaries.
