Massasoit CC 12, 2 – New Hampshire Tech 0,1

The Warriors swept a doubleheader from the New Hampshire Technical Institute Lynx, in a pair of games played at Louis R. Colombo Field in Brockton, MA. In the opener the Warriors jumped out to a 7-0 lead with the help of several defensive miscues by the Lynx. Dave Tar pitched five scoreless innings, giving up only four hits and striking out nine batters. Offensively, Tyler Andrade had a pair of hits including a double and a triple. Tyler has really been on a tear since coming back from Florida. Joe Walsh and Travis Ritchie both had a pair of hits and each drove in a run. Ben Monterio  had a pair of runs batted in as he reached base all the times he came to the plate via a double and two walks. The final was 12-0 after five innings due to the 10 run “slaughter” rule.

Game two couldn’t have been more different. The Lynx tightened their defense and allowed on two runs, both scored in the second inning by the Warriors on rbi singles by Trevor Packard and Tyler Andrade. Ben Monteiro was in complete command on the mound as he gave up only five hits while striking out five batters. Ben is now 2-1 on the season. Chris Roumbakis played outstanding shortstop and the Warriors played errorless ball on the day. Solid pitching and great defense will keep you in every game that you play.

The Warriors return home for a 4:00 pm game against Naval Prep, on Tuesday, April 2, 2013.

Ben Monteiro, pitched a complete game five hitter, to improve to 2-0 on the season.
