Massasoit CC 4 Iowa Lakes CC 3

Shane Holmes notched his first collegiate victory with a eight inning complete game victory over the Iowa Lakes CC Lakers. Shane was in complete command through the first six innings. He allowed only one earned run, but in the top of the seventh the Lakers rallied to tie the score. Shane  bore down to keep the Lakers scoreless in the top of the eighth.

In the bottom of the eighth inning Tyler Andrade reached on a fielder’s choice and Chris Adams walked to put runners at first and second with two outs. Scott O’Brien went up to the plate and stroked a single to left field, scoring Andrade from second for an emotional win for the Warriors. After failing to hold the lead in the seventh, the Warriors came back with a big win over a Division II opponent.

Joe Walsh and Luke Nagle both drove in runs and Tyler Andrade scored twice. There were mistakes made particularly in the bunting and running game, but these mistakes can be corrected in practice. The pitching continues to be impressive and as everyone knows pitching wins ball games.

The Warriors are now 2-3 on their spring trip to Vero Beach Sports Village. Brandon Fowler takes the mound tomorrow in a 1:00 pm game against Westchester CC (NY).IMG_3601
