Massasoit CC 7 – Northern Essex CC 4

Shane Holmes brought his “A” game to Louis R. Colombo Field as the Warriors beat the Northern Essex CC Knights 7-4 in a NJCAA Region XXI Division III match up. Shane went seven innings scattered four hits and struck out eight batters to pick up his fourth win of the season against a single loss. Luke Nagle earned the save as he pitched the eighth and ninth innings and struck out four of the six batters he faced.

The Warriors scored two runs in the bottom of the first on Chris Adams and Luke Nagle’s rbi singles. The Warriors trailed by one as a result of a pair of Warrior fielding errors in the top of the third inning, but came right back to tie it up on another Nagle rbi. Tyler Andrade and Ben Monteiro plated runs in the bottom of the fourth, the Warriors never looked back, as the solid pitching of Holmes and Nagle sealed the win.

Six of the nine starters had at least two hits on the day, as the Warrior offense put together some excellent at bats.  The Warriors now need one win in their last two league contests this Saturday, to clinch the #1 seed in the Region XXI Tournament. The Bunker Hill Bulldogs travel to the Brockton campus for a 12:00 double header on Saturday, May 4, 2013.
