Ramping up practices…

The pitching staff is rounding into shape as the Warriors find themselves 27 days away for heading down to Vero Beach, Florida. The staff has moved up to 80 pitch sets with impressive results. The sophomore pitchers, Mike Nader, Zach Reid, Jake Stearns, Scott Anderson and Liam Richmond are working hard to set an example for their freshman counterparts. They know how different college baseball is from high school baseball. You don’t have the luxury of eating the 7,8, and 9 batters alive. Most college nine hole hitters were in the top five spots of their high school lineup. At this level you have to earn every out you record. These sophomore hurlers feel they have a lot to prove and so far their hard work in the off-season appears to be paying off.

Coach McDermott is working tirelessly with the hitters. Batters had the opportunity to swing against live pitching on Wednesday. This will help them adjust a little quicker when we take the field in March.Fundamentals like bunting and hitting behind the runner are being stressed repeatedly so that if there is a run to be had, we can try and take advantage of the opportunity.
