Springfield JV 5 Massasoit CC 4

A fly ball over an outfielder’s head, plated the winning run in the bottom of the ninth with two outs, giving the Springfield JV the win. The Warriors approached this game with all the enthusiasm of a grammar school student forced to attend school the first week in July. The first four batters managed a total of three hits and the five through nine hitters accounted for four base knocks (two by Chris Roumbakis.) An anemic offense simply didn’t get the job done.

The second inning was a microcosm for the entire Warrior effort. Chris Adams and Luke Nagle hit back to back singles. The next three hitters hit three routine fly balls to end the inning. Every time the Springfield Pride had a runner on they moved him over. Ben Monteiro and Brandon Quirk pitched well enough to win, we simply didn’t generate any appreciable offense. Therefore it was game, set, match and a very ugly loss.

Tomorrow we play a twin bill against Eastern CT State University JV at 12:00 at home.
