The Warriors walked into a Northern Essex buzzsaw and were swept in the best of three series, by scores of 6-3 and 8-0. In the first game the freshmen carried the day offensively as Bryon Dwyer had four hits, a walk and scored a run in five plate appearances. Jon Hurley had a pair of hits and played outstanding defense at the hot corner as he handled all his chances flawlessly. Justin Martinho and Jim Lawless each drove in a run. This was a frustrating loss as the Warriors stranded 13 baserunners and had multiple opportunities to tie or go ahead in this contest.

The 8-0 shutout started off with the Northern Essex lead-off hitter hitting a routine ground ball and coming all the way around to score on a throwing error. That’s the only run the Knights needed. Dylan Ashburn led the offense with a pair of hits and both times ended up stranded at third base. The Warriors were held to only four hits by the Northern Essex pitching staff, as once again the offense struggled.

Like the Brooklyn Dodgers, the Warriors will simply have to wait until next year…
