Warriors split with Quinsigamond CC

It was bound to happen…and it did. The Warriors absolutely imploded in the first game of a double header against Quinsigamond CC. We beat them 15-5 in a nine inning game, two weeks ago. I told the team that this was a “trap” game and to be careful, but sometimes you just have to let a game play itself out. Travis Ritchie had a four hit game and was the one bright spot offensively. The Wyverns tied the game up at three a piece in the fourth inning. Luke Nagle was battling all game long. In the sixth inning he threw four ground ball outs and all four were booted. The infield kicked six balls on the day and the result was a 9-5 loss, our first in divisional play. To say I was “hot” after this game was an understatement.

Tom Protentis took control of the second game. He pitched a two hitter and stuck out eight. Offensively he came up with with a huge two out double in the bottom of the first, to stake himself to a three run lead. Dave Murphy had a pair of hits and an rbi and Pat Murray reached base all three at bats with a single, double and a walk.

We didn’t scorch the ball, but we didn’t make any errors either. It was a very nice 71 pitch victory,  to leave us at 13-9 and 7-1 in the Division. We play on Monday against Holyoke CC in a noon time double header, with Shane Holmes taking the mound in the first game.

Tom pitched a omelet game two hitter and struck out 8 in a 4-0 victory over Quinsigamond CC. He also drove in two runs with a first inning two out double.
