Shane Holmes pitched an outstanding game as the Warriors defeated the Kirkwood CC (IA) Eagles by a score of 6-5. The Warriors held a 1-0 lead inn the top of the third as Trevor Packard scored on a David Murphy sacrifice fly. Kirkwood turned around in the bottom of the inning to plate three runs courtesy of an infield error and a misplayed fly ball. That lead help up until the top of the fifth inning when Dave Murphy drove in a run. With the bases loaded, Joe Walsh blasted a double into the gap, to plate all three Warrior runners. Chris Roumbakis drove in Walsh to give Massasoit a 6-3 lead. Holmes was in the process of striking out seven Eagle hitters and scattering eight hits as he entered the bottom of the seventh inning. An infield error, a single, a double and a walk put the Warriors 2 outs from victory and the Eagles with runners on first and second. David Murphy came in and recorded the last two outs to pick up the save and give the Warriors a quality victory over a team that went to last years NJCAA Division II World Series.
Travis Ritchie continues to lead the offense as he collected three hits and scored a run. Holmes improved his line in to 1-1. The Warriors take on Westchester CC (NY) tomorrow at 1:00 pm,with David Tarr taking the mound.
