One month from today…

Exactly one month from today, the 2014 Warrior Baseball team will he heading to Historic Dodger Town for a nine game spring trip. The team has been working hard to prepare for this important part of our season. The season is divided into three parts: our spring trip, our regular season schedule once we return and of course our goal of qualifying for the Region XXI Tournament, which will be hosted by Massasoit CC in May.

The pitchers have been working hard to build up arm strength with a rigorous throwing routine, complimented a by a great deal of band work and running. So far the staff led by returning sophomores Dave Tarr and Shane Holmes look like they are on the way to a solid season. The infielders and outfielders are getting plenty of swings and as many ground balls as possible. Freshman Dave Murphy has been impressive at shortstop and the outfield which is anchored by Travis Ritchie and Joe Walsh should be a real strength offensively and defensively. Catchers, Nick Oliveira, Trevor Packard and Brandon Gallahue have done a  sold job in helping the pitching staff ramp up their pitch counts. So far, the indoor workouts have been productive, even though we have lost two practice sessions to snow and inclement weather.

Both Coach McDermott and I feel that this team has a chance to make an impact in the Region, but they still have a long was to go in terms of conditioning and preparation. The groundwork is being prepared and it will be an interesting journey for the 21 payers on this years Massasoit CC Warrior baseball Team.

Luke Nagle struck out four of the six hitter he faced to notch the save against NECC. Luke also drove in a pair of runs to seal the victory.

Luke Nagle will see time at first base and on the mound for the 2014 MCC Warriors
