Warriors clinch a play-off berth!

The Warriors traveled to Haverhill, MA to play the Northern Essex Knights in a key Divisional match up and emerged a 9-3 winner in a rain shortened contest. Jimmy Bussiere pitched six strong innings, allowing only one earned run while striking out six Knight batters. Liam Richmond came on to pitch a clean seventh inning after which the game was called due to poor field conditions.

The Warriors found themselves chasing two runs going into the top of the third inning. Jon Hurley, Evan McSherry and Kevin Huscher loaded the bases with consecutive singles. Bryan Dwyer plated a run with a single and Tyler Morini had an rbi sacrifice fly. With runners on the corners Alex Carey launched a missile to left center field for his fourth home run of the season and a 5-3 Warrior lead.

Justin Martinho scored a run in the fourth after hitting one of his two doubles on the day. The Knights scored a run in the bottom of the fifth, but that was quickly answered by a three run outburst in the top of the seventh. Kevin Huscher hit a double and Bryan Dwyer walked and were both plated by a Dylan Ashburn single. Ashburn scored the final run of the game when Justin Martinho doubled him home.

The win assured the Warriors of a play-off spot beginning next Friday at Northern Essex CC in a best of three series. The Warriors return to action Saturday as they host Holyoke CC in a double header at Louis R. Colombo Field.
