Massasoit CC 10 – Quinsigamond CC 5

The Warriors picked up their first Divisional win with a 10-5 victory over Quinsigamond CC at Louis R. Colombo Field. Shane Holmes picked up his second win of the season (2-1) going six innings allowing five hits and striking out six Quinsigamond batters. Ethan Kelley pitched the final three innings striking out three and allowing one run. Two southpaw hurlers only allowed two earned runs,

The first inning saw Quinsigamond score three times as a result of three Warriors miscues. This caused Shane’s pitch count to jump and prevented him from going deeper into the game. The Warrior offense was kick started by Tyler Andrade as he continued to stay red hot at the plate. Tyler had three hits out of the lead-off spot and scored three times. It was Joe Walsh, who carried the offense as he crushed two home runs  along with a pair of singles. More importantly he plated six Warrior runners. Benny Monteiro hit a laser shot home run in the third inning and drove in a pair of runs.

The offense provided by the first five hitters (Andrade, Ritchie, Walsh, Nagle and Monteiro) was huge, as the three, four, five hitters drove in all ten of the Warrior tallies. The first three hitters scored eight of the ten runs.

The Warriors return to Divisional action this weekend against Mass Bay CC at home. This game was scheduled to be away, but Mass Bay’s field is still unavailable. So while the games will be played at Louis R. Colombo Field, we will be the visiting team in both games.
